Finally I’m starting to get a grip on what I actually will be doing while in Rwanda – it has been, for a very long time, just this vague something. So, very concretely, our fellow delegates from Kigali are slowly bringing us closer to this wonderful country. I can’t wait to experience the happiness, the smiles and the endless hugs you recieve from all new people you meet. I’m also eager to start working with the youth in Butare – ideas of what I could do, are flowing through my head during the long days of coursing done by the Red Cross. We are being taught different methods of reaching out to people, as well as how the cultural differences will be challenging, but far from being a hindrance in the work to be done.
And even more concretely than this theoretical/practical approace, for instance being taught the Active Choice activities we can use in the field, we also got our Red Cross kit today. It’s always exciting getting stuff, and 23 boxes of malarone, hand sanitizer, mosquito nets, rain ponchos, fleece sweaters, t-shirts and so on, is great! So now I’m not only mentally and professionally getting ready, but also physically. And I’m getting my cholera vaccine tomorrow. Yey!

Sigri!
Your blog is fantastic, and I really look forward to follow your African adventures. Do you have a Red Cross blog too, or is this the one to follow..??
Wish you all the best! I am so proud of you!
Tusen takk, min kjære Pia! Det er nok denne bloggen jeg kommer til å bruke fremover også. Får skrive litt mer seriøse ting for rodekorsungdom.no, mens denne blir litt mer personlig. Jeg er stolt av deg også Pia! Håper vi ses i Brussel/Oslo snart!
